Building trust and transparency: CVCheck continues partnership with Privacy Awareness Week

Since starting in 2004 CVCheck’s vision has been to make verifying information easy, so that people can exchange their personal or professional information safely and grow trusted relationships.

As a part of our commitment to protecting our customers’ privacy, we’re continuing our partnership with Privacy Awareness Week. PAW is an annual initiative of the Asia Pacific Privacy Authorities (APPA) forum and is the largest privacy campaign event in Australia. The themes of trust and transparency at PAW this year strongly resonate with CVCheck. This theme speaks to the consumer and community trust that flows through organisations who handle personal information in clear and transparent ways.

We want our customers to know we’re looking out for your privacy, and handle your information with care, so you can be confident in our privacy practices.

You can get involved in the discussion about privacy and start taking steps to handle your personal information with care. Here are a few quick tips you can use today:

  1. Check your social media profiles’ privacy settings and alter them to your preferences
  2. Read the privacy policy of any new app or website where you enter your personal information
  3. Respect other people’s privacy, and ask for permission to post images or videos where they are identifiable
  4. Use passwords with a combination of numbers and letters, and which aren’t easy to guess (a password with your name and birthday would be easy to crack)
  5. Check for the padlock symbol and ‘https’ at the start of a URL to know if your connection to a site is secure.

PAW starts on 15 May For more information about privacy, visit www.oaic.gov.au.
